Donating Gifts of Stock or Mutual Funds

Making a Planned Gift or Bequest

Gifts by Bequest: We are grateful for your consideration of making a bequest to Briarpatch Youth Services, Inc.. A bequest can be outlined in your will or trust. A bequest can be in the form of a specific amount, percentage, or residual gift. In a bequest, you keep control of the assets during your lifetime. While you may designate how you’d like these funds to be designated, it is most helpful for the agency to have unrestricted funds to use in the area of greatest need.
You can simply include a clause directing a charitable gift in your will or revocable living trust to Briarpatch Youth Services, Inc. (tax ID # 39-1391737). You can specify a specific dollar amount, set percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate. If you already have a will, you can add a bequest in a codicil (supplemental document).
Sample Language:
- General bequest: I give $___(or __% of my residuary estate) to Briarpatch Youth Services, Inc. to use in the area of greatest need.
- Gift to a specific area of interest: I give $__ (or __% of my residuary estate) to Briarpatch Youth Services, Inc. to support __________.
