🎨🎤We Celebrated Creativity, Community,
and the Incredible Talents of Our Youth! 🎭🎶
On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Briarpatch Youth Services welcomed nearly 200 community members to our 9th annual Youth Arts Festival, a day dedicated to celebrating the creativity, talent, and entrepreneurial spirit of young artists and performers from across Dane County.
From the moment the festival began, the atmosphere was filled with music, color, conversation, and connection. Families, friends, neighbors, and community supporters came together to encourage young people as they showcased and sold their original artwork and shared their talents on stage. The event served as a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community creates space for young people to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
This year’s festival featured 23 young artists, offering an impressive variety of handmade and original works. Visitors explored tables filled with watercolor paintings, acrylic canvases, framed prints, jewelry, greeting cards, crocheted plushies, magnets, bookmarks, coasters, and countless other mixed-media creations. Every booth reflected the unique perspective and creativity of the young person behind it.
The festival was also alive with entertainment throughout the afternoon. Audiences enjoyed 11 live performances showcasing an incredible range of artistic expression, including vocal performances, dance, guitar, ukulele, keyboard, cajón, DJ sets, and more. Each performance added to the vibrant energy of the day and highlighted the confidence and passion our young people bring to the stage.
One of the most inspiring parts of the festival was seeing young artists not only share their creativity but also experience the rewards of their hard work. On average, participating artists earned $97.29 from their artwork, with individual sales ranging up to $400. For many, this was an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in entrepreneurship while building confidence in their artistic abilities.
A special thank you goes to Cue the 608 for joining us this year. Their young people brought an infectious energy that could be felt throughout the festival. From their engaging performances to their beautiful artwork, they helped create an atmosphere rooted in encouragement, connection, and community. We are grateful for their partnership and for the joy they brought to the event.
Events like the Youth Arts Festival are only possible because of the generosity of our sponsors. Presenting sponsor, Steve Brown Apartments, your investment in this event helps create meaningful opportunities for young people to express themselves, develop new skills, build confidence, and connect with a community that believes in them. 2026 sponsors, First Business Bank, MG&E, and Quartz, thank you for making this celebration possible and for standing alongside Briarpatch as we strengthen the lives of youth and families. Youth Arts Festival is also supported by a grant from Dane Arts.
This year we were hosted by Rooted & Badger Rock at the Badger Rock Neighborhood Center moving the festival indoors for the first time in its 9-year history and the space made all the difference.
Finally, thank you to everyone who attended. Whether you purchased a piece of art, applauded a performance, volunteered your time, or simply stopped by to encourage a young person, you helped make the day unforgettable. Every conversation, every cheer, and every purchase sent a powerful message to our youth: your creativity matters, your voice matters, and your community believes in you.
We are incredibly proud of every artist and performer who participated this year and look forward to continuing this tradition of celebrating youth creativity for years to come.
